R.MonaLeza was created on the deck of a Nashville, Tennessee home in 2008. Though she has been writing since the age of 11, the transition of committing herself to dedicating her words to affect change in the world, particularly for women, grew into a purpose far beyond her expectations.
She has endured decades of abuse, poverty, and the overall struggle to survive, yet she still remains strong and steadfast in her conviction to send a message out to others. She is a woman that has overcome and continues to rise above it all.
Her subject matter does not just border on the dark side of human nature, it plunges in with both feet and takes the readers on a ride that leaves them breathless at the end, but craving more.
R. MonaLeza has published five poetry books and a novel in the past two years, appeared at various venues as a performance poet, and is currently working on several projects.
David Farmerie, Documentarian and Photographer: "It is Mona's ability to create the most vivid imagery in her writing. As if a painter spreading her paints across a canvas, Mona delivers the reader into a visual realm that is strange, fantastical, exhilarating, and heart ripping, while being emotionally draining and rejuvenating."
Ned Johnson, St. Petersburg College (Tarpon Springs Campus) Professor:
"She encompasses the model of what this century's woman should be, and her code of empowerment illustrates the progress the thinking woman makes by simply being herself. She is a Renaissance woman, gifted in many ways, and fortunately, she shares her story and her philosophy for all of us through her narrative and her poetry."
